Post #20 Is this really the end...or just the beginning
This is just the beginning! I really enjoyed doing the exercises. I have learned so much about wikis, podcasts, etc. I think creating my blog was not only a leaning experience, but was fun as well. The exercise I enjoyed the most was working with Flickr tools and Image Generator. You can do so many cool things and they were easy to learn. I would participate in another exercise like this one. When do we start?! I just want to say a big "Thank You" to all of those on the committee who have taken their valuable time in setting this up, helping others when they need a little support. You guys are the greatest!
I was already familiar with Facebook since I have a high school daughter that is on facebook everyday. I think social networking is a great way to keep in touch with long distance friends, and also to make new friends, with friends of your friends. The reason I like facebook is the ability to accept your friends. Not just anyone can log on and carry on a conversation with my daughter, she had to accept them as her friend. I feel that she is "safer" with facebook than with myspace.
Looking around the podcast directories, I found a few podcasts that may be worthwhile. A childrens books site, scholastic and a parents guide. I would rather have something to look at along with the podcast, so this didn't interest me much.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLDvP7-gRdc Here is a penguin video I selected from YouTube. There are so many videos to look at, most are trash, I don't know why anyone would want to waste their time on this website.
Post #16 Discovering Web 2.0 tools
In looked at the music and photo sites, but I'm not much into social networking, so I don't think I would use this. Although, it looks like there is a wide variety of sites to choose from, if you do like networking your music or pictures or just about anything!
I used the Google spreadsheet and created a spreadsheet. I found this easy to use and I think it would be very helpful. Here is a link to my spreadsheet http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pLQYLckZqvt7RtJXrwFXQLw&hl=en_US&pli=1
Post #14 Playing Around with Wiki's
I posted my blog to the favorite blogs site. http://oulibrarieslearn.pbwiki.com/Favorite+Blogs This was one of the easier things to do.

I looked at some of the wiki's available. I like being able to read other peoples reviews on books, but I think wiki's are too easily edited. I think there is too much room for people to put spam in wiki's.
Reading Library 2.0 was interesting. Since I'm new to the Library and have not used libraries much since I was in school, it was interesting reading about print vs web. It sounds like libraries need to enlarge their online resources to keep the partons happy. I know students like being able to access websites and do research at all hours, not just when the library is open. I think there will always be a need for reference librarians. Not all students are into technology and need some help along the way.
I thought this was an interesting site. I liked being able to use the tags to find blogs that interest me. I like seeing videos, the tours of the libraries were awsome.

I created a Del.icio.us account and added travel bookmarks to my account. I think this would be useful in bookmarking your favorite websites. I like being able to tag the bookmarks, saving time searching through all the bookmarks you have saved.

I created a Rollyo search engine box, but once again I could not get the search box into my blog. I don't think I would use Rollyo much, I just Google!

I love this, something that was easy to do! Here are just a couple of books I've read. I am a big fan of historical romance novels, as you can see. Here is the link to my catalog: http://www.librarything.com/catalog/piersond
Post #7 Image Generator
I used the Sketch Artist in the Image Generator. I used a pictue of my great niece, Alexis. I liked being able to put a link on my blog for this website.
Oh Boy, was this a challenge for me! I created an RSS on Bloglines with 7 feeds. I was trying to get a "button" on my blog to direct me to this, but could not figure out how to. I'm still not sure if it's possible. I like the idea of having all the articles that interest me in one place and not having to go look for them.

I created a magazine cover with my garden pictured on the front using FD Toys. Flickr has some fun tools to work with!

Out of the 71/2 habits "Use Technology" is the hardest for me. I don't look at using technology as something fun to do. I would rather be spending time with my family, my girls love to SHOP! Or I would rather be in my yard, gardening or relaxing in my gazebo reading a historical romance novel. The easiest habit would be "Teach Others", I guess that is the mother in me coming out. I've always thought it would be fun to be a teacher and work with small children. I've done this in the past as a sunday school teacher and found it to be very rewarding. Or to be helping my girls with their homework, showing them research tools that I've learned from the library!
I'm starting this new learning process late, but I'm determined to get caught up! Setting in front of a computer is not one of my favorite things to do. To me it's kind of like setting in front of a TV, a waste of time. So I only use a computer at work! This learning new technology is a little scary for me, but I'm ready to take the challenge!!
